Toyota logs $5.16bn net profit in Q2

Mubasher: Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp on Tuesday said its net profits rose to JPY 585 billion ($5.16 billion) during the second quarter of 2018, compared to JPY 458 billion ($4.04 billion) in Q2-17.

Toyota’s operational profits amounted to JPY 579 billion in Q2-18, up from 522 billion in the same period last year, according to an official statement.

The auto manufacturer attributed the second-quarter profit growth to an increase in North America business after a rise in sales of trucks, sport-utility vehicles, and profits.

Toyota generated an operating income of JPY 58.9 billion in South America’s operations during Q2-18.

“Toyota increased its forecast for the financial year, which ends in March, [as] operating income is expected to rise to JPY 2.4 trillion, compared with its prior projection of JPY 2.3 trillion. Toyota said revenues would increase to JPY 29.5 trillion, compared with its prior projection of JPY 29 trillion,” the statement said.
